I ordered one of these some months ago, and after having a few opportunities to use it wasn't pleased with coarse side, which seemed not totally flat, and the diamond coating somewhat irregular.

Well, I can tell you that the guaranty on DMT products -- what they call the "DMT Commitment" -- is absolutely what they represent. I sent the product in, and after speaking with Kris in customer service arranged to replace it with something slightly different. No problem, no complications, and in fact they included a nice little bonus after a slight delay in shipping my replacement due simply to production scheduling.

FWIW I'm particularly impressed with DMT's extra-fine sharpeners, which are approximately 1200 mesh grit, and will produce a very fine edge. These are especially useful if you have any high end "super steel" knives, like ZDP-189 or the Japanese "Super Gold".

DMT enjoys a very solid reputation in the knife community, and with customer service like I experienced, it's easy to see why.

This is the best knife sharpener I have ever owned. This one is actually a christmas gift for my dad becuase I like mine so much. I have had it for several years and it still works like it did when I took it out of the package. In fact, I work at a vet clinic where we are always removing bandages from horses and cow legs so a sharp knife is required and everyone that I work with is always having me sharpen their knives for them. It is a great deal for the price.

Some of reviews pointed out the power supply do not provide enough power to HD over 160GB etc. The package included power supply "model: SPP34-12.0/5.0-2000, Ausgang:12V 2000mA, Output 5.0V 2000mA" gave enough power to my old 250GB maxtor HD (model: 6L250R0).

I went through 3 different enclosures, that all stopped working within 3 months before I bought this one. I've now had this enclosure for about 2 years, and it's still going strong. I've even bought 4 more of them for other projects. The option to use USB or Firewire is great, the ability to daisychain them together to save ports on your computer is great, and they work wonderfully.

This drive enclosure has corrupted my hard drive directories so many times now it is getting ridiculous. Disk Warrior has saved me a number of times, but it looks like this time I am having to reinitialize and losing all data. The plugs are really loose, and if one accidentally comes out, it WILL corrupt your data and you WILL need some kind of premier disk repair software to fix it. If you own this accident waiting to happen, be sure to SECURE THE PLUGS!

This handsome unit uses a blend of old and new technology to interpret the weather. The Galileo thermometer is filled with a clear liquid that suspends multiple colored weights. As the liquid within the weights changes temperature their density changes allowing the weights to rise or fall. The lowest weight at the very top of the Galileo reflects the temperature. The glass water barometer indicates changes in the air temperature. Great replacement or upgrade for PATA/IDE/EIDE drives in older laptops. Quiet and fast.

I've used these to upgrade drives and replace failing drives. HINT: buy/borrow an external drive enclosure, put the new drive in the enclosure, use Clonezilla ([...]) to copy the entire old drive's data (including multiple OS's, diagnostic partitions, etc) to the new drive, then replace the old drive with the new one and just boot up.

So far so good, I bought this for my OLD laptop as the original drive failed but I couldnt use it as intended as the internal DVD drive has been dead for sometime & that combined with the fact I couldnd find one of the restore disks made in impracticable to use. (you cant install Windows XP from an external CD/DVD drive!, another reason the Mac is better! Anyway I bought a Vantec external enclosure from Amazon & installed it in there so I can us it between the Mac & another PC to swap files. It works really well in that application so Im happy:-)

This 160GB WD drive was an upgrade for my 4-yr old 80GB Fujitsu drive that was still working well, but too small. Upgrade was a pain -- not because of WD drive, but because Dell's piece-of-crap MediaDirect software got in the way, inexplicably truncating the larger 160GB drive down to 80GB. Can you believe it? I'll spare you the details, but had to dig deep to find a workaround on the TechHandbook website that allowed me to re-set the new drive to its full 160GB capacity and permanently disable MediaDirect (which I never used, anyway) so that it stopped getting in the way. (Dell's website was no help.) Used Acronis software to clone the old drive onto the new one. Beyond that adventure, the WD drive works great so far -- it is whisper quite, but not noticeably faster than my 4-yr old Fujitsu. Feels good to have some breathing room on my hard drive, and I hope it holds up as well as the problem-free old Fujitsu.

This is the best purchase for a digital device. It's so handy. If there's anything to ask for improvement would be the length of the cord for the outlet other than that, the sound, the price, it's compact feature, durability is pretty amazing. Even my slightly hearing impaired grampa commented how good the sound coming from the tiny speakers I had connected with my zune. Pretty darn cool! It beats my friend's bose computer speakers.
